Dance In The Vampire Bund

Brilliant anime!

I’ve been watching the series today with my dad since he’s off from work and me and him have been enjoying it today with only three episodes left in the series. The animation and artwork is practically golden, not to mention the story line is very intriguing. There was a good conversation piece about one of the main characters, Nina, which is also one of the very controversial topics of the series. But to save anyone spoilers, you’ll have to come up with your own theories because I developed my own pertaining to her. Anyways, Dance In The Vampire Bund receives my stamp of recommendation

A recent article in Evolutionary Psychology — “Songs as a Medium for Embedded Reproductive Messages” (PDF) — suggests how songs convey sexual messages and references.

Yeah, kinda figured the percentage was around here. And of course most parents won’t give two shits about their pre-teen kids singing these songs on YouTube…

Comic Book Boycott of the Day: Conservative group One Million Moms is at it again, directing its not-quite-a-million members to boycott Marvel and DC Comics due to recent announcements from both companies about their futures of their gay characters.
DC has revealed that a major character is soon going to come out as gay, while Marvel announced the engagement of superhero Northstar to his boyfriend, Kyle.
These events don’t sit will with One Million Moms, whose anti-gay agenda has also led them to protest the wedding of Archie Comics’ first gay character, Kevin Keller.
“Children desire to be just like superheroes,” said the group in a statement. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’”
The statement goes on to accuse the publishers of trying to “indoctrate [sic] impressionable young minds.”
Marvel and DC have yet to respond to the homophobic comments.

Of yes of course, because their boycott for Archie comics and the boycotting Elen Degeneress did so fantastically well. By the way One Million Moms, here’s something interesting for you to remember.
Earth’s Population: +7 Billion
OMM’s supposed member total: 1 Million (give or take, probably take in all reality)
One Million Moms you are roughly 0.0143 of the Earth’s population trying to throw your minute weight around for your own moral tirades. How big do you REALLY think you are?
To take your own words:

“Children desire to be just like superheroes,” said the group in a statement. “Children mimic superhero actions and even dress up in costumes to resemble these characters as much as possible. Can you imagine little boys saying, ‘I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?’”

Yes. Yes I can imagine that. Why not idolize a character who, not only struggles with the day to day fact that because they have the title of a hero they need to take on this massive task of protecting people. Hundreds, thousands, millions, even billions of people at a time from threats that come in every shape, size and angle. But you forget that superheroes are people to, and because of that they get to experience something better than any kind of super power. Love. Does it really matter that two people of the same sex love each other? No. You know why? Because that is part of life, that is natural.
So for super heroes, these beings that are put on podiums of greatness, whether they want it or not, and on top of that they also happen to be gay, that puts an even greater weight on their shoulders. So why not let a kid idolize and look up to someone who not only saves lives, has immense powers that they have used for the greater good of humanity AND is strong enough to take all of this responsibility and not be afraid to be themselves because of bullies like your group? Why can’t they idolize those heroes?
One Million Moms I’m issuing a challenge, no, a dare.
I DARE YOU; stand in front of a hero, not just super heroes in comics either, who risk their very being to save and protect your ungrateful, sorry asses and tell them that, because they’re gay, all the good they do is invalid and that they are sick and making your children sick. I. Fucking. DARE. You.
No, madams, YOU are the ones making your own children sick feeding them diseases called; ignorance, intolerance, bigotry, homophobia and hate. Your cause is a disease of humanity and decays they growth towards a peaceful society. And to that I say; Fuck you One Million Moms.

I just found Jeremy Bernal’s FA page…

My day has been made. Finding the artist page for a guy who made a huge impact on me with his art, cross that off my bucket list.
